Tomorrow we, Charlies-angel-centre, have a meeting with a Dr Mischenko who is looking into provisions available within the Nhs maternity services. Her aims are to improve the services for maternity and children's sector.

I am getting quite excited to meet her as I feel that this will be a massive step forward in the process of improving bereavement services for all.

It has taken us just over 18 months to get to the point we are now at and I think that is an amazing achievement for just a normal family with no previous experience of tackling such major issues.

We have been to a few Nhs meetings now and each one becomes a little less daunting.
At first it was quite scary and intimidating going to the meetings but as we have become more knowledgeable and more confident we feel more able to talk on a level field with these professionals.

It definitely needs members of the public and people who have been affected by inadequate care to become involved with these reviews to ensure that the correct issues are looked at.

We know that this Dr is very enthusiastic about improving services and this is very encouraging for us.

We have a lot of ideas we would like to discuss with her and ideas we have for helping other families going through the loss of a baby.

I feel quite positive that she will welcome our input into her review.

Carrie has unfortunately become an expert on the subject now and can give her first hand experiences and ideas that would have helped her through her journey.

If meetings were like this for all areas of care, and professionals were much more readily accessible to the general public, issues could be dealt with more efficiently and speedily.

Why does the Nhs have to be so closed off to the people who access it 24 hours a day, and pay for it through their taxes.

There needs to be a much more open approach to tackling areas of need and not so much covering up or hostility towards families questioning care.

If this happened then maybe we wouldn't have had to go through the problems we encountered and there wouldn't be so many families out there still waiting for bereavement support and counselling.

Things are feeling very positive for Charlies-angel-centre at the moment and this meeting could help us get even closer to our dream.

Hopefully next time I write I can bring positive news from the meeting. Keep your fingers crossed for us all.
