Change

Going through everything that has happened to us all over the last 2 years has definitely changed us.

I don't think any family could come through such life changing events unaffected.

Our lives were made forever different that early morning in December 2012.

I think we all started to look at things very differently as soon as we found out that Charlie had Potters Syndrome.

We knew that we had to be there for each other and especially for Carrie.

The support we could give each other was now more important than at any other times in our lives.

To get through this we had to work together and support each other.

There would still be times when we had disagreements and differences of opinions but I think we were much better at talking them through and putting them into perspective.

We have all been affected differently, and we all deal with things differently but we all have a similar focus now, which is to make a change in Charlies memory.

The little things in life that we used to find irritating and stressful now seem trivial.
We now realise that there are much worse things that can happen to you than forgetting to buy sugar or your car failing its Mot.

I personally think that it has bought us all closer as a family as we have been there for each other through one of the worst things we have ever had to experience.

This kind of event could have split us all apart, you hear of families that just don't know how to cope with the tragedy and start to take it out on each other.

We still have our differences and disagreements but I think we now cope with it much easier and realise that the family is so important.

I think that Charlie has made us into better and more tolerant people.

Charlie has also made us more determined people, we are now doing things and communicating with people we would never have imagined ever doing.

We now believe that we can make a difference to the lives of any other bereaved families.

We have faith in our own abilities now and realise that we are pretty strong people who can do just about anything we put our minds to. Even if it takes us a while and we have to face many barriers we know we can do it.

Things could have been very different for us all but I do believe that Charlie was sent to our family for a reason.
